This is the morning after the 2004 Presidential election. I still got up and the sun will rise! However, the results of this election has defined what our culture is today. To name a few; "Abortions, Homosextual marriages, Higher taxes and Government handouts. We must live according to God's word and that means we are to honor the man in office and in doing so we honor God. Let's go into our study for this week and see how it plays along with the happenings in our world.....

In Leviticus 18 God is giving instructions to the Israelites through Moses that they were
not to do as those in the lands they conquered or lived in. Even though they lived with these foreigners they were not to keep their statutes or laws. They were to abide by God’s statutes and His ordinances. "I am the Lord"! If you read this chapter, you will find that the people in these countries were wicked and believed in gods who required wicked things from their people as dictated by those who led the people. One of God’s warnings is found beginning in verse 24; "Do not defile yourselves by any of these things, for by all these things, the nations I am casting out before you, defiled themselves. You will be cast out, just as those before you were cast out". If you remember the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, in Genesis 19:24, God rained brimstone and fire and destroyed these two cities. Why? Because their culture was depraved!
Our culture today is becoming a nation that has moved out from under the umbrella of God’s protection. We Christians should not be misled to believe, that because our country says it is lawful doesn’t mean that it is lawful for the Christian. ‘Oh be careful little hands what you do’ is a song we teach little ones in Sunday School. If you learned it, then you should be living by it! Today our culture says; ‘Living together before marriage is okay’. Today our culture says; ‘It is okay to abort your baby during or even at full term’. Today our culture is coming around to allowing users of marijuana to grow their own. Today our culture allows predators of children to be released from prison, where 9 out of 10 commit the same crimes but only worse. The list goes on and on! I have found that many young Christians have chosen that living together before marriage an acceptable lifestyle. Somewhere along the line this destructive chain needs to be broken. Someone in the family needs to stop and say; "I belong to God and this is not for me"! Someone needs to set a new precedence to follow God’s established ordinances! Should it be you and me? Prayer is the key to all things.....Think on these things! Jane Ann
