THANKSGIVING! Box R Recap

The weather report said; SNOW! Of course having snow at BOX R is always exciting but getting there and leaving there when there is snow is a different story. We left early enough and it was as though the Windy pushed us all the way. The wind was so fierce that we weren't sure if even the car would keep to the road ahead, but it did. Along the way, the snow came which made our traveling much slower. By the time we neared our destination it was still spitting but not much on the ground. Others had similar experiences but around 12:30 am, when the last car drove up the dirt road, the gang was all there, lights were out.

Very early the next morning; around 2:00 am to be exact, I looked out the window and saw the last cabin was dark; I breathed a sigh of relief; noticed the white stuff all around us; then crawled under the electric blanket, snuggled as close to Jim as I could get and then relaxed and thanked God for His hedge of protection for all the travelers.

You all have experienced family times away from home. You all have memories of grand family gatherings. You all have pictures that cause the memory juices to overflow with bits and pieces of fun times, sad times and even the ingathering of the Saints. To ingather means to bring the lost into the fold. At BOX R this weekend we were all in unison as we brought our worship and praise before the Lord. How glorious that is to a family gathering!

My #2 grandson, Ryan, has learned to crochet. He picked it up on his own and others in his class followed his lead and many of them are presently in the Home Economic's class. They prepared many items and set up a booth at the 'Shepherd's Market' that is held annually at this time of the year as a fund raiser for the school; their booth was a fund raiser for their Senior Class. Ryan crochet a cap for his Uncle Lynn while at Box R. A bright orange crochet cap took Ryan a couple of hours but the joy of the results will be memorable for a life time.

"The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37 Sometimes it is difficult for us to reach those we love. We must pray that God will send a laborer to them; one who knows and understands God's ways. One who can reach your loved one and bring them into God's harvest. We become impatient but God is the author of salvation and He will convict them when the timing is right.

The word salvation means safety or soundness. Many of us think of it as 'justification'; meaning, "just as if I've never sinned." Others think of it as; regeneration, sanctification, glorification, redemption, propitiation, grace and forgiveness. However you think of it, it comes down to the fact that God has harvested us into His kingdom. What a place to be ! How glorious heaven will be! Perhaps, a Box R in heaven! An ingathering of all of God's Saints into one place but not for a weekend; for eternity.

With Thanksgiving day rapidly approaching us this week, we become mindful of our blessings and love for one another. Hopefully it will cause the Christian to become motivated to live according to God's word. "Besides this you know what hour it is, how it is full time now for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed; the night is far gone, the day is at hand. Let us then cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light." Romans 13:11-12 In other words, we know not when the Lord will appear again, but we can be assured He is coming. Let's be prepared!
