To finish out our week of "What would Jesus do" I hope the following would cause you to reflect on the times when you asked that question and the times you didn't. To reflect upon the importance of daily walking with Jesus. My mothers pat answers were; "What do you think or Do you think you should"? Jim's answer is always; "You have to deal with it". They always put it back into my court. When asking "What would Jesus do" the answer is more defined.
IN HIS STEPS
To personify Jesus in us, is to become like Him.
Many of us are personable; good looking, having a pleasing personality; someone others like having around. But do we personify Jesus? A book written by Charles M. Sheldon called "In His Steps", is a story about an affluent congregation who’s comfortable lifestyle is disrupted by a poor, unemployed stranger who dies, basically on their doorstep. The preacher, Henry Maxwell examines himself and proposes a plan to some of his congregation; "who will pledge themselves, earnestly and honestly for an entire year, not to do anything without first asking the question; "What would Jesus do?"

This book begins with the premise that is found in 1 Peter 2:21 that says; "For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in His steps".

This book was originally written in 1896 to be presented to young people and by 1935 it was considered second in circulation to the Bible and still today considered a moving publication of Jesus personified. The concept is not new; "What would Jesus do"? Nor the idea of walking "In His Steps"! However, a new Christian will receive this pattern of living to be more idealistic than realistic. According to the book it became more realistic than idealistic!

1 Peter 3:8-12 is a passage of scripture that brings the Christians conduct into full view. Let’s take heed, to this passage as we walk in His steps, lest we should fall; "Finally, all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love of the brethren, a tender heart and a humble mind; Do not return evil for evil or reviling for reviling; but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing; For he that would love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking guile; let him turn away from evil and do right; let him seek peace and pursue it, for the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer; But the face of the Lord is against those that do evil".

Think about "what would Jesus do" when you come to a crossroads. Think about "what would Jesus do" when you are making a life choice. Think about "What would Jesus do" as you continue your journey; "In His Steps". Jane Ann
